Reflections of life: 1

Updated: Apr 8, 2020

In today's world most of us have crazy lives right from the moment we wake up, until going to sleep. This has been with me too. I was at the stage where I was so engrossed with my busy schedule that I was gradually loosing touch with my friends and family. I usually don't feel like having a conversation with anyone after work. I would simply be with myself and share a very reserved life.

The initial days of lock down during this global crisis Covid-19 made me excited with the thoughts of being at home all the time, doing the things I love and most of all be with my family. This pandemic has paused my life, gave me a chance to re-look into the things around me, and see the world from a different perspective.

The realizations:

1. The world is beautiful. It's us who are too busy with our worldly affairs that we don't give ourselves the opportunity to wait for a moment to enjoy the beauty around us.

With the pollution level coming down because of the lock down, I realized we have a very beautiful sky above us. A sky we can enjoy looking into for hours without getting tired.

The clear sound of cuckoos singing in the early morning takes me down to my memory lane. It is the time of the year we look forward to. It's time for Bihu, our dearest festival!

2. Money can buy many things. But, definitely, it can't buy happiness. With the fear of getting affected by Covid-19, many like me think twice before going out. Going out for a grocery shopping is like going out for a war with stress in our mind thinking what if we are carrying the virus with us. Money has, no doubt, given us the ability to purchase. But, was it able to make us happy?

3. Humans are weak in front of nature. With the uncountable damages we have done to the mother earth every day, every moment, we are finally bowing down in front of her.

4. Family and friends are integral part of life. It's a matter of five minutes to stay connected. Spending five minutes out of 24 hours costs us nothing.
